How to request deletion
Option 1 — From inside the app
Open Dear Diary, go to the menu, then Account, and choose Delete Account. Confirm when asked.
Option 2 — By email
Can't sign in, or no longer have the app installed? Email us from the address linked to your account (the email you signed up with, or your Google account email).
Email a deletion requestSubject line: “Delete my Dear Diary account”. We'll confirm it's you and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in details — your email address and, for Google sign-in, the basic profile information we received.
- Trial and subscription status tied to your account.
What isn't stored on our servers
Your entries and backups
- Diary entries and mood tags are stored on your device, not on our servers. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.
- Backups, if you turned them on, are encrypted files in your own Google Drive or Dropbox. To remove them, delete them from there (in Google Drive: Settings → Manage apps → Dear Diary → Delete hidden app data).
Good to know
- Deleting your account can't be undone.
- If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel the subscription separately in Google Play — deleting your account doesn't cancel it.
- Back up or export anything you want to keep before you delete.
